Hailing from Northern Ontario, Logan Rayment is a Canadian artist predominantly concerned with the lasting effects of industrialism, militarism, and medium specific issues regarding the photographic archive.
Logan’s work explores the repercussions of industrialism and the military industrial complex, specifically its effects on small towns and rural communities. A common thread throughout his work is investigating how the medium of photography can be a proxy for memory and remembrance, looking at how our photographic tendencies can create a distorted sense of the past and present while also creating a sense of understanding. Applying these themes, Rayment’s work is rooted in a sense of space, using photography, archives, and found imagery to explore the intersection between community, industry, and militarism within a wider context of historical exploration and storytelling.
Logan is currently based in Toronto and Sault Ste Marie.
