Where Do the Birds Go to Die? explores the silent changes and uncomfortable solace that come with non-permanently returning home. Set in the backdrop of my hometown, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, an industrial steel town along the US/Canada Border, the project aims to document how single-industry towns force outward migration, explored through my lived experience and personal revelation that I’d likely never live in my hometown again. Through photography, the work navigates my headspace as I wander the streets of my home as a now outsider.
